Meet the Wool Makers

Our Love for Wool

Wool is a warming, soft and comforting material that comes from the fluffy fur of sheep and other animals. It is naturally temperature regulating, so it is warming in the winter and cooling in the summer.  It has the ability to bring an element of coziness and hygge to any space. And if you're wearing it, it has the same affect on your skin. To continue the Meet the Maker series, we are excited to share the stories behind some of our favorite products that are made from this beautiful material.

Broadwick Fibers

Camille McMurry, a former fashion buyer in London, began making wool blankets in 2015 upon her return to the US. She hand dyes and felts raw wool into yarn and then knits the yarn into luxurious chunky-knit blankets. Over the past couple of years, she began working with a non-profit that helps refugees find employment in Colorado. The picture below shows Camille knitting with Saadia, a refugee from Eritrea. Her collection, Broadwick Fibers, now consists of various blanket sizes and weaves, wall hangings and she also sells fluffy rolls of yarn for home projects.

Sheepskins

In European homes, you are likely to find sheepskins draped on couches, chairs, and laid organically on wooden floors. We believe that the soft, rustic and natural elements of hides bring hygge into your space. Lay or drape your sheepskin wherever it gives you the most joy. Take it outdoors; the naturally regulating wool will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Our handpicked hides are made in Europe in an eco-friendly and responsible manner. They are byproducts of the meat industry and raised for the sole purpose of food, not for their skins. The hides are un-dyed, unbleached and free from many chemicals typically used in the tanning process. Because of these natural practices, each hide is unique in its coloring, size and wool structure. Just like us, no two sheep are the same - they are all individuals.

Slippers

The beauty of wool slippers lies beyond their appearance. Wool is naturally temperature regulating, so they keep your feet warm without causing them to sweat. Perfect for the summer and the winter! Our wool slipper collection is handmade in Europe with the highest quality merino and camel wool.

We believe that surrounding yourself with natural materials, such as wool, contributes to your overall wellbeing and the comfort of your home.
